They wanted to create an event that centered around the music they love -- melodic,driving, uplifting, and floor-shaking trance. They wanted to present it in a big room and on a proper sound-system, in order to do this music justice. ...And they wanted to present it in such a way that the mood and atmosphere was not cheapened by some of the more unimportant aspects of nightlife -- cliques, the superficial, and the "see and be seen".
