Neumos PresentsJordan Biggs CD Release Partywith The Big MedicineKatIan AyersJulianJordan BiggsBorn and raised in Seattle. Jordan has been playing and writing music since he could walk and talk. In November he recorded his Brooklyn EP with producer Lewis Richards (Sublime, Sugar Ray, The Dirty Heads, etc) at 17th St Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, CA. During that session he recorded the duet Once Again with Kat Nestel. This show will be the first time they perform it live. After he got home to Seattle he got together with old friend/drummer Steven Mcalvey, bass player Larry Bluhm and lead guitarist/saxophone player Steve Schneider. Theyve played many shows locally including a few benefits and are looking forward to touring in the near future. The Big MedicineBrothers Chad and Nathan Jackson were raised in a musical family and have played together in Seattle hard rock bands, notably Local 808 and Drop Six. The brothers went on a retreat to Leavenworth, Washington with just a portable recording studio and a couple of guitars. When they returned home and listened to the songs they had written there, they realized that this was the beginning of a project that had to become a reality. They called on longtime friend Garrett Craddock. Nathan had been bandmates with Garrett in SP Unlimited, another prominent Seattle rock band, and knew that he would fit perfectly with their vision. Next, they decided to pursue Brian Jackson (no relation to Chad and Nate.) Brian is another longtime friend and the drummer from Seattle area projects such as Us of All, Seymore Goldfish, Thread, Healer, and Violate the Standard. Chad also tapped Hellephant bassist and bandmate Josh Veals. Josh is also the former bass player for Jed, another popular Seattle rock band. The band was still missing keyboards, so Brian asked longtime friend and former Seymore Goldfish bandmate Matt McKay to sit in. Matt found himself filling more of a multi-instrumentalist role; not only on keyboards, but baritone guitar, mandolin, and even tenor sax. So, what about the name? The band is named after a legendary white buffalo that the Flathead tribe in Montana called the Big Medicine. Music itself is Big Medicine for all of the bands members. Playing and performing keeps them right in the head. Since all the bands members have backgrounds in heavy rock, this project is a diversion from what theyre used to. Their goal is to play for as many people as they can and write music that moves them and stretches their songwriting capabilities. So, tune in and enjoy.KAT (Kat Nestel)KAT knows that one of her sole purposes in this life is to make music, sing and share it with the world! Her sound is a melodic style of rock blended with Reggae, Ska, and Hip Hop influences creating a fun but serious sound that continues to win over fans where ever Kat performs. Kat had a goal, to appear on American Idol, which she first auditioned for at the age of 15. At the time her manager made a comment the pain and emotion in your voice is far beyond your years; I bet they wait till your 18 or so, but I guarantee youll be on the show. Fast forward to 2009, Kat headed to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to audition for Season 9 of American Idol, where she excitedly won the Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Kat made a great impression on the judges as well as the at-home audience. Simon Cowell said her voice was great and unique, she was intriguing and she had a great personality. Randy was digging her, Kara thought she was adorable and Special Guest judge Avril Lavigne said, I personally think youre sick! Kat was already generating a buzz performing at venues in Orange County and Los Angeles when she caught the ear of local studio owner and producer/engineer, Lewis Richards, of 17th Street Studios. Lewis set up jam sessions with Kat, her friend Rome Ramirez, and Eric Wilson of Sublime. The collaboration, their rendition of Saw Red, was aired via RAW SESSIONS on You Tube and has amassed 732,000 views.Ian AyersIan Ayers is a local reggae musician that has been in the scene for over 10 years.
