with StrugglefucksGurlAction News TeamShotgun DollsFormed in 2009 by Turner Midzain, Mike Badmington and Jeff Oman, Shotgun Dolls was born with a love for Rock N Roll. They started out playing all their favourite covers and writing there own material in the early days. They began to play there music all over the city trying to define themselves and find their true sound. With a wide range of influences from Led Zeppelin to Queens of the Stone Age to Alexisonfire and Thin Lizzy, this band sought out to accomplish playing music they loved, and showing people a new breed of Rock music. Their music holds no limits and no boundaries.In late 2010, Shotgun Dolls released their first EP. This EP gained much success for the band and had 2 of the songs gain radio play on local radio stations, X92.9 Project Punk and CJSW. With a growing local fan base, Shotgun Dolls traveled to surrounding cities to promote their new release and gain provincial fan base.Shotgun Dolls began writing their follow up album in 2011 (Where the Wind Blows) for a release in summer. It was recorded February through April 2011 and released in June during the Sled Island Festival in Calgary Alberta. The release show was held at Lord Nelsons and was sold out. This new release then saw Shotgun Dolls take there first full length record to a whole new audience. They embarked on a 6 week cross Canada tour in July 2011, playing as far as Vancouver to Montreal. The tour gained a national name for Shotgun Dolls as their catchy songs, light show and stage energy left the crowds always wanting more.While in Toronto in July 2011 Shotgun Dolls played at local hot spot, Cherry Colas. This bar being known for famous after parties held by such musicians as Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes. The performance was a huge success and had a personal invitation to play a second showcase before heading back out west. Touring saw much success for Shotgun Dolls and the gained new fans across the country. After returning home from tour, a new single from their album was released, Dead Dont Dance, and began a regular rotation on x92.9s Project Punk.
