For the past eight years he's being doing his own show on BBC 1Xtra playing the latest and greatest music from dubstep and hiphop to house and soul and everything in between, while inviting some of the very best artists to the show for interviews and exclusive mixes ranging from Juan Atkins to J Rocc and Dorian Concept to Kode 9.When 1Xtra launched in 2002 he was asked to present a show on Thursday nights. It soon became essential listening for music fans around the globe. Recently Benji made the move to Sundays and has recently been given an extra hour and will now broadcast from 10 pm until 1 am every Sunday night In October 2010, he made the move over to BBC Radio 1, where you can now catch him every Wednesday night / Thursday morning 2-4am. As a DJ it is easier to count the countries Benji hasn't DJ'ed in than the ones he has. Every weekend he is in a different part of the world and is one of the UK's most international specialist DJs, playing regularly in the USA, Japan, the Middle East, Asia and Australia as well as all over Europe.Alongside his weekly BBC show on Radio 1 Benji has been running his club night Deviation Sessions in the East London's Gramaphone for almost two years. Each month he installs a bespoke soundsystem on which have played the likes of Flying Lotus, J Davey, Martyn and Skream to Moodymann, Dam-Funk and many more. It is now widely regarded as one of the very best club nights in London.Kode9Kode9s hyperdub sound is difficult to define, sometimes with beats, sometimes without, sometimes with a vocalist, sometimes without the only continuity is the heavy sub bass. Currently, Kode9s dj sets travel through a selection of sub-bass driven, heavy skank with off-key synths, drawing from the best of UK underground scenes such as dubstep, grime, UK house and garage.Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Kode9 is now based in South London and runs the record label Hyperdub (releasing artists such as Burial, Spaceape, Warrior Queen, the Bug, Samiyam, Darkstar, Zomby, Ikonika, LV, and Quarta330 and commissioning remixes from the likes of Flying Lotus, Dabrye and Rustie). For 4 years, he hosted the weekly Fwd>> show on London grime and dubstep pirate radio station Rinse Fm and is one of the rotating djs at the seminal dubstep nights DMZ and Forward>> in London. He has released tracks on Aphex Twins Rephlex label, pioneering dubstep label Tempa, Soul Jazz, Domino and his own Hyperdub imprint and has remixed artists such as the Junior Boys and Dabrye feat. MF Doom. His dj sets have helped spread the South London sound internationally, to East Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Australia. In 2006 he mixed the Dubstep Allstars Vol.3 CD compilation on Tempa records with vocalist Spaceape and released their debut album, Memories of the Future. Kode9 has performed at festivals such as Sonar (Spain), Mutek (Ca), Hypersonica and 4 Hype (Brazil), Bangface and Bloc (UK) and Synch (Greece). Kode9 & Spaceapes new album will be released in the middle of 2009.Lunice22-year-old producer and DJ Lunice isnt interested in making the kind of hip-hop music youre accustomed to. In fact, when we asked him to describe what the overall vision for his new upcoming album Three Sixty, he put it very bluntly: bridge mainstream music with the more experimental underground sound. To also put it bluntly, Lunice IS the next big thing to happen in hip-hop production. Over the past year, the Montreal native has released numerous bootlegs, remixes, and originalsall showcasing his club slaying, futuristic hip-hop sound. He has already gained support from Diplo, A-Trak, Hudson Mohawke, and Mary Anne Hobbes to name a few. And with upcoming collaborations with rappers A$AP Rocky, Theophilus London, Azealia Banks and producer AraabMuzik. Lunice is well on his way towards establishing himself in both the dance music and hip-hop realms.
