Small World Music presents Kinobe and Soul Beat Africa as part of the annual Small World Music Festival (September 23 to October 1)
Kinobe layers transcendent melodies over driving poly-rhythms, leading listeners into the very soul of African music. Performing both Ugandan roots music and original compositions, Soul Beat Africa represents the new vanguard of Ugandan performers - gifted instrumentalists steeped in the music of their homeland, but with ears opened to the sounds of the world at large.
Dinner reservations guarantee seating. A la carte menu available.
Kinobe has been performing internationally since the age of ten, captivating audiences with virtuoso performances of Ugandan roots music as well as original compositions, reflecting a wealth of African and world influences. A multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Kinobe leads his listeners into the soul of African music with traditional instruments, songs, and stories from his homeland. He helped to form the band Soul Beat Africa, a new voice of Ugandan music, the inspired synthesis of African roots and world music, of traditional and modern instrumentation. These musicians represent the new vanguard of Ugandan performers, gifted instrumentalists steeped in the music of their homeland, but with ears opened to the sounds of the world at large. Driving poly-rhythms underlay transcendent melodies. Traditional African instruments – koras, kalimbas, adungus, endongos, ngonis, drums – blend with guitars and keyboards, drawing on influences from around the globe. This is a new groove for a new world.
