In the mid 1960's music impresario Bill Graham opened the Fillmore in San Francisco and it became the focal point for a musical movement, hosting such legends as Grateful Dead, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, The Who and many more names from "Rock's Golden Age of Music." A couple years later the Fillmore East opened in New York City and continued the rich tradition of quality musical experiences. In the early 1970's both Fillmore's closed. Still, for more than 40 years, the legendary Fillmore name has stood as the link between some of the most influential artists in music and their fans. The Fillmore has distinguished itself as being a favorite among artists and fans alike because of the unique qualities of the theater's ambience and feel and because of certain traditions forged by its original founder Bill Graham.
With the opening of the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre, the sixth new Fillmore in the US, Live Nation is resurrecting that same connection between fans, artists and the finest musical concert experiences that will create lasting memories for years to come. It will bring the Fillmore essence into the 21st Century and blend the excitement of South Beach with a variety of entertainment talent that will taste of the future as well as the past. For the benefit of South Florida, "a splendid time is guaranteed for all!"
The venue's 2007 multi million dollar transformation paved the way for endless internationally known musicians to line up to play on the Fillmore's stage. With live music, great food and drinks and a respectable following, this is one of Miami's best known entertainment destinations. The theatre offers various event packages for those looking to celebrate their event at the Fillmore, including food and beverage catering and entertainment to create the ultimate party experience.
