Entering through the back alley and up a dark flight of stairs is kind of a spooky way to start an evening. However all that is forgotten once you enter one of Calgary's longest-running underground clubs. The Warehouse attracts people from the rave culture interested in trance, jungle, hard house, break-beat, and progressive trance. Dancers come with white or fluorescent clothing to glow under the black light. Some bring fluorescent flags to whirl or glow sticks to twirl in a circular stream of light. The essence of independent dancing is fully appreciated here. Everyone does their own thing with no regard as to what anyone else thinks and an amazing sense of freedom fills the room. A true sign that the eighties are back? Break dancers show off their twisted moves on the dance floor throughout the evening.
